Technical Manual and Dictionary
of Classical Ballet

Gail Grant

Dover Publications; 2nd ed. / ASIN: B000CEQHRE (1967)

For those of you who think of fondue only as melted cheese, please be aware it is
also a "sinking down" movement. Classical ballet terms change very little, but if
you are one of us rural Americans who never took French in high school (ouch!) your
first dance classes can leave you bewildered. They are literally in another language.

There is also a section in the back describing the floor plan, directions of the
body and feet, etc. -- all with their French terms. Basic positions? Of course... oui!

I've seen used copies of this book available very cheaply, and the paperback is easy
to stuff in your dance bag. I suggest you do so. I did, and it really came in handy.
