B.F. Keith's Theatre News

June 27, 1926

(Actual size of paper: 6 1/2" x 9 1/8")

According to the Library of Congress, the proper description for this item is:

"B.F. Keith's Theatre News : crisp comment on current and coming high-class vaudeville attractions"

where it is cataloged in "Vaudeville, Periodicals". Since many historians agree that B.F. Keith was

the Father of American Vaudeville and at the turn of the 20th century he was running the largest

and most important vaudeville circuit in the country, it's easy to see why he would feel the need

for his own trade publication. The B.F. Keith's Theatre News was like a "Variety' that catered only

to the stars and shows employed by B.F. Keith. Today it is important for the information it has on

the vaudeville acts that appeared on stages throughout America, but left very little evidence of

their existence unless they were lucky enough to be caught by the early motion picture cameras.
