Meadowbrook dinner theatre

Cedar Grove, New Jersey

Opened originally as Frank Dailey's Meadowbrook, this was a hot spot for the big bands of the 1940s.
In 1959 it reopened as one of the country's first dinner theatres, where the audience could have an evening of entertainment that would include dinner, dancing and a show. Broadway performers like Van Johnson, Orson Bean, Dorothy Lamour, Eve Arden and Ann Sothern appeared in shows like Gypsy, The Odd Couple, Guys and Dolls and Company.

When the theatre closed in 1980 it was used briefly as a disco, and is still available for gala events.

Information about the Meadowbrook is from Linda Leddy: Meadowbrook Theatre

and from John Beaumont: The Meadowbrook Project.
