People's Theatre
1620 W. 47th Street / Chicago / April 1893
Opened on March 1, 1919 for the Schoenstadt chain, this ‘Back of the Yards’ neighborhood theater was designed by the firm of Rapp & Rapp.
It contained a 2/6 Wurlitzer organ, which was installed in 1923.
After an seven-decade career, the Peoples Theater was closed in 1989, and converted to retail use. It was razed in December 2001.
